Do you ever have dreams where you imagine you’re a parent? I just had a dream where I was being shaken awake by my own son, who was a terrified boy probably about four years old who had been woken up by nightmares. He was frantic and his eyes welled with tears. He jumped into bed beside me and I lazily put my hand in his hair to comfort him back to sleep. In the dream it all felt mundane but when I woke up I was so upset I couldn’t catch my breath. He looked just like me.
